GPS Sattelite

It’s been a while since I thought about global positioning. I started to play with the theory on a project, but I didn’t have any gps receiver at the time, so it was kind of developing something without the actual real thing.

Since I bought my Nokia E61i I’ve been wondering about finally getting a receiver to get data into my “huge” cellphone screen. It was also a good reason to contribute to the OSM community. Wait… I’m a city guy. No so much ‘unkown’ roads. Oh, I know, I’ll contribute with good drinking spots! Great!

Now that’s all wrote in the paper, I’ll put the gps receiver on my shirts pocket and start walking like bum on the city streets or even go outside the perimeters. Wild stuff!

Now seriously, GoogleMaps works perfectly with GPS, but unfortunetly it needs the network connection 24/7, which is a real crap if i’m travelling and I have no credit to access GPRS (no, I don’t have an unlimited data plan). So, I decided to start using Sygic McGuider, which looks VERY nice, probably better than TomTom… And here I go, all equiped for my journey arround the world. Right….

Red wine effect

Red wine effect

I started the party at midnight of the 28th. A big chocolate cake (and gorgeous blond woman with it) welcomed my 25 years on this planet. I got one of those silly hats on my head, took a deep breath… and blown all 25 candles.

It’s not very me to make this day a big “big bang” thing, but I gotta say, it really surprised me when I was having dinner with my wife and my parents, and around 22h the mood on the restaurant table got a hype. Maybe the two bottles of wine had something to do with it. And the food, oh my… the food! All was five stars!

In the end, all that is left are two delicious cakes (which will fuck my diet), and some cool and weird photos to remind me that celebration should be done everyday!

Good night!

Money, money, money

by admin on Feb.24, 2009, under Life, Python

Today, after some races on my Ducati, I went to meet PrimeIT guys. A Python position called my spirit to an interview for a job. All went well there, same question as always tho. Besides getting to know each other, why do they always ask something about us that they’ve already read at least twice on the resume. If the point is to know us, shouldn’t we grab a coffe and talk about the weather?

Oh this business world… Seriously, why do we care so much about it? Is it the cute colors? The three dimensional printed images? The big cars?

Why is money so dear? Shouldn’t we care a bit more about us instead of spending more than 50 years working just to pay the bills? I mean, I love my job, really! But I’d prefer to do it when i wanted to.

What’s missing in Open Source?

by admin on Feb.22, 2009, under Python, Society

I came across this question today, as I was trying to figure out a useful application that was missing on the market or just no in an Open Source version.

I thought about enterprise software, such as real estate business management. Any ideas out there?
